Spiral

Numeralia, Spiral album coverReleased in 2001, Numeralia's second full-length CD features a revised line up that includes guitarist Mark Harden, Celtic harpist Susan Harwood and the reintegration of live drums, featuring D Lavon, and Paul Crider on bass. The heart of the band's melodic sound reflects the dream-like ambience of its beginnings, blending Sheena Colbath's angelic vocals with lush instrumentation and emotionally engaging songs. The added energy and organic feel of the new ensemble in Spiral combined with a clearer focus on Sheena's vocals brings Numeralia to a new place. The richness of the sound is well balanced between the power of Mark's guitar and Sheena's voice, the groove of Paul's bass and D's drums, and the lovely texture of Susan's harp.

A well-rounded and diverse album, Numeralia's newest effort is sure to please dark muses and ethereal angels alike.

Deep Breath

numeralia, deep breath album coverFresh air and dark dreaming, this ambient darkwave album blends soaring vocals with guitars that are alternately driving or lulling. The push-pull between the dark and light in this 1998 album, like sweet chocolate and dark roasted coffee, leaves the listener ultimately satisfied.

Sun Catcher

A Collection of Singles

numeralia, sun catcher, a collection of singles, album coverThis collection of singles includes never before published material such as the treatments for a television show theme, "When Darkness Falls" (never aired) and music for the short film, "Where Were You Last Night." Also included are two singles previously released on the compilations "A Cat Shaped Hole In My Heart" and "The Black Bible." The song "Sunflower" is William Blake's (1757-1827) poem, "Ah! Sunflower" set to music. It was originally published in 1794 in his Songs of Experience. These poems were meant to be sung but unfortunately no musical notation was ever written by Blake so it is left to musicians down the ages to provide melody and accompaniment to his amazing work.

It landed the band gigs at Austin's infamous and lamented Steamboat, Club DeVille in Austin and GothCon in New Orleans. The EP is out of print; however, the track "Seasoned" is available on "Sun Catcher, a Collection of Singles."

Half-Gifts

(Tribute to the Cocteau Twins)

Half-Gifts, a Tribute to the Cocteau Twins album coverNumeralia was invited to participate in a tribute album to one of their inspirations, The Cocteau Twins. Sheena was fortunate to meet Cocteau bassist Simon Raymonde who loved Numeralia's track, saying that instead of just copying the Cocteau Twins they had "taken it someplace new."

This CD, which was released in July 2002 by Dewdrop Records, is out of print.

  • It all started as an idea on the fan-based online discussion list. Wouldn't it be fun to record and gather cover versions of Cocteau Twins originals and pass them around to other fans? It was a challenge as well as a salute to the end of a dearly beloved band. That was back during the waning days of 1997 and early 1998. Within a year the project took on a whole new direction. After hearing a couple of exceptional covers I was compelled to contact Brant Nelson and Pat Mannion at Dewdrops Records. If word-of-mouth on the mailing list could generate these tracks what could industry contacts do? They both agreed it was worth investigation and thus began our journey. Three years and thirty submissions later we are finally near the end. We chose twelve diverse tracks which reflect the influence and impact this very unique band had on people across the world.

A Cat Shaped Hole In My Heart

a cat shaped hole in my heart album coverAfter suffering the loss of his only cat to feline leukemia, Projekt (and black tape for a blue girl) founder Sam Rosenthal was moved to create a disc that would prevent others from suffering this same grief, while also supporting a local Chicago kitty cause. Enlisting the aid of ethereal, gothic, shoegazer and darkwave artists who share a common love for cats, Projekt presents this unique compilation. Each band contributed a song about their own cat and donated their full artist royalties to a Chicago-based charity, The Tree House, a "no-kill" cat shelter; the booklet contains information on avoiding the spread of feline leukemia and preventing your cat from suffering this horrid fate.
